Description
The Agata bench capper is a heavy-duty manual crown-cap bottle capper for homebrewers. Bench-mount design with a lever-action arm and adjustable bell – drop a cap on a filled bottle, pull the lever, perfect seal. Faster, more consistent, and easier on the wrist than wing-style hand cappers, especially when you are working through a 5-gallon batch (roughly 50 bottles) in one session.
Why Bench Capper Over Wing Capper
Wing cappers are cheap and portable but require two hands of squeezing pressure per bottle, and they crush thin-walled and short-neck bottles roughly 1 in 50 times. A bench capper holds the bottle in a fixed position, uses lever leverage to crimp the cap, and works on bottles a wing capper cannot grip (champagne-style, swing-tops with the bail removed, short-neck Belgian-style bottles). For repeat homebrew use, bench cappers pay for themselves in saved bottles within a year.
Cap Compatibility
Fits standard 26mm pry-off crown caps, the universal homebrew standard. Compatible with standard amber or clear long-neck bottles (Sierra Nevada / Sam Adams shape), 22 oz bombers, 750 mL champagne bottles, and most European-style bottles. Adjustable bell height accommodates different bottle heights from 7 to 12 inches.
Setup
Bolts to a sturdy workbench or table. Bell height adjusts with a thumbscrew between bottle types. Use food-grade oxygen-absorbing crown caps for best results – they extend bottle conditioning shelf life by months.
